Initially established as a monthly venture and now a quarterly venture, PAJE collected 38 nominations from around the Caribbean, and held the voting exercises from November 10 - 20, 2023. After a very close race in all ten categories, the winners were announced.

Now, let's hear from the Music Producer of the Month (recognized for work done in October 2023), Odane Mais!

PAJE: We've got to say, it's been great being able to watch you grow and establish yourself over the years! So, it was quite interesting seeing you be nominated, much less winning! That stated, in your own words - WHO is Odane Mais?

Odane: Odane Mais is a young Gospel Musician/Producer who seeks to impact the world with his gifts and talents with the help of Almighty God.

PAJE: Now, we know you have a vast musical background and you're quite gifted as a musician - but what led you into music production?

Odane: My appreciation for good music and wanting to be more than just a musician.

PAJE: When becoming a Producer, it's quite easy to say that you'll be fine to produce anybody in a bid to 'establish yourself' - but we recognize that you're doing this for God. What led to you making the decision to devote your energy and skillset as a Producer to producing Gospel music?

Odane: The Creator gave me these gifts, so I've decided to give them back to Him.

PAJE: Tell us 5 things about yourself that the public wouldn't readily know about you.

Odane:

a) I love playing video games (FIFA)

b) I love meeting new people

c) I am a giver/kindhearted

d) I am a good listener

e) I am the eldest of a pair of twins

PAJE: Over the past 3 years, especially, many Christians have had their faith tested in multiple ways. What are the 3 biggest lessons you have learned in the last 3 years?

Odane:

a) I have learnt to trust God wholeheartedly.

b) I have learnt the true meaning of being a provider especially when it involves my son and the things he needs.

c) I have learnt how to believe in my gift. Spending more time mastering the craft have really allowed me to appreciate it more.

PAJE: When thinking about being a Producer, what are the top 3 things that you've found make you feel fulfilled?

Odane:

a) Listening to my first production and then listening to my latest productions.

b) The feedback that I receive from the public regarding my work.

c)  Seeing how my son reacts to my music.

PAJE: What would you say is your general step-by-step process in producing and  bringing an idea to life based on what the Lord placed in your mind?

Odane:

a) First step is recording the idea's with my phone. This may require multiple takes depending on how God imparts.

b) Second step is  working the idea's out around a piano or keyboard.

c) Third step is composing; and depending on the kind of song I may call in other musicians.

d) Fourth step is recording and mixing.

e) Final step is mastering the production.

PAJE: When thinking of your relationship with God, what are the 3 main things that you'd say have seen the most growth/evolution over the years?

Odane:

a) Allowing myself to be used by him.

b) Looking to him for Directions.

c) My view on how I see him.

PAJE: What would you say to the person who has been given a vision for their path by God but at this point, they don't have the skill or the resources to bring it to life and so they're basically stalling God's bluff?

Odane:

a) I would say like myself, find someone that works in the field that aligns with the vision and let your interest be known.

b) Invest in yourself by learning the craft and developing your skillset.

c) Seek God in every step and he will provide all the necessary tools to obtain the vision.

Thanks so much for this quick chat, Odane! We're looking forward to seeing what the Lord inspires you to do in 2024! Before you go, by the way, is there anything you'd want to say to encourage fellow Christian producers?
